In the late 1950s, Gloves Aurelio Vervloet dreamed of making a small piece of the Atlantic Forest, in the state of Espírito Santo, a refuge for wild animals.

This piece of land today surrounds the dam reservoir of Rio Bonito, on the Santa Maria River. Its waters contribute to the ecosystem of the region, to the survival of various animals and also to the lives of people – from the countryside and the capital – in several ways: food production by industrial and family farming, electricity generation and water supply.
